About Me

Liz Ohlhorst is a lifelong advocate for animals and a passionate leader in animal welfare. She currently serves as the Social Media and Events Manager at Alyssa’s, where she has created meaningful partnerships to promote animal adoption and community engagement. Liz also cares for a small feral cat colony, a personal mission that reflects her deep compassion for animals and her belief in the power of community to create change.

Her journey in animal welfare began in high school while caring for Persian cats, igniting her lifelong passion for improving the lives of companion animals. Liz earned a degree in Communications with a focus on Radio/TV but was drawn back to her love of animals. She obtained a certificate in Pet Grooming and Kennel Management, which led to a decade of experience in grooming and pet care. As Trade Show Account Manager for New England Serum/Pet Edge, she traveled the country representing the company at industry events, combining her communication skills with her commitment to the pet care industry.

After relocating to Florida, Liz managed a local pet store that partnered with rescues to find homes for animals in need. She went on to serve as Managing Director of the Pensacola Humane Society from 2008 to 2011, where she oversaw programs that reduced unnecessary euthanasia and promoted responsible pet ownership—values that deeply align with A HOPE’s mission.

Liz’s connection with A HOPE grew during her time as Transport Scheduler, where she coordinated vital spay and neuter services for companion animals and community cats. This role allowed her to see firsthand how accessible services can transform lives, both for animals and their caregivers.

Liz’s dedication to animal welfare is rooted in love and hope. She is inspired by the mission of A HOPE Spay & Neuter Clinic to provide affordable care, education, and support for the community. Liz believes in the life-changing impact of these services and is committed to helping A HOPE expand its reach and programs.

Outside of her professional and volunteer roles, Liz cherishes time with her rescue cats, enjoys reading, and fosters connections as Greeter Leader at her church. She is honored to join the Board of Directors and looks forward to using her experience, passion, and creativity to help build a brighter future for animals and the people who love them.
